Recovering From A Bad Day: 5 Little Ways To Feel Better
With everything going on in the world and on top of that our own personal struggles, bad days can be difficult to recover from. If you’re struggling, having a bad day, or finding it tough to feel positive; here are a few ways you can find a release from those negative feelings and start to feel better.
1 | Let Yourself Feel It
It’s OK to feel everything you’re feeling. Let it wash over you and through you. By letting yourself truly feel your emotions it allows you to accept what is done is done and move past it. Trying to stifle your reaction to a bad day and hide your emotions only encourages you to cling onto them for longer. Deal with those feelings by facing them head on.. and then let go.
2 | Change Your Scenery
You might find your current environment is causing you to dwell on the events that have occurred by reminding you of everything that’s gone wrong. Get up and go outside. Take a walk to get some fresh air and to change your scenery. It will help break the cycle of dwelling on the bad experiences of the day and help clear your head.
3 | Surround Yourself With Friends
There’s nothing quite like the comfort of close friends. Rally your allies and surround yourself with the people who love you; share your thoughts, discuss your worries, and laugh away your fear. Friends are there to support and love you, call on them when you’re having a bad day; they’ll be there to pick you up.
4 | Focus On Something Positive
Put your situation into perspective; that’s not to say you should stop feeling bad just because someone else has it worse but a little perspective makes it easier to rise above the negativity. Focus on something positive in your life, appreciate what you have not what you’ve lost, and look to the future for reassurance. Minor incidents can often feel overwhelming when they pile on top of each other. There’s always something positive we can focus on no matter how bad a day seems.
5 | Treat Yourself
When you’ve been struggle with a bad day, treat yourself kindly. It’s important not to blame yourself or mentally beat yourself up over things you cannot control. Take care of yourself by adopting a few self-care rituals. A little personal TLC like nourishing your body with good food, pampering yourself with at-home spa treatments, and wearing your favourite jewellery are simple ways to treat yourself when the day hasn’t gone your way.
