Weekends provide us with a much needed break to relax and refresh, how often to do you make the best of them? When the weather is warm, making the most of your days off should be a top priority. Here are three simple ways to best enjoy a long weekend.
Unplug
Pull the plug on your online activities by switching notifications off, putting your phone on ‘do not disturb,’ and committing to a weekend without the internet. When you find yourself with more time than usual it’s all too easy to fall into the habit of cycling through your favourite apps every few minutes. We all do it. Switching off over the weekend gives you the space you need to get away from it all enabling you do the things you don’t normally have the time to. Removing the distractions that demand your attention and time means you can focus on what matters the most to you.

Indulge In Self-Care
After a week or work, the weekend should be time for recuperation and rejuvenation. How often do you devote this time to taking care of yourself and doing the things that make you happy? Self-care is so important to mental health and wellbeing yet it’s often overlooked. A long weekend is the perfect opportunity to invest in some personal TLC. Whether you decide to nourish your body with good food, declutter your space for more clarity, go on an adventure, pick up a hobby or simply stay in bed; take the time to indulge in simple self-care rituals, you deserve to be taken care of.

Get Outside
A long weekend is ideal for outdoor adventures especially when the weather is fine. Explore your local neighbourhood by taking roads you’ve never taken before, go on a photowalk (or set up your own), visit local nature spots, galleries, or museums, and take advantage of any local festivities. Fresh air and sunshine (even the rain) will lift your spirits and recharge your body and mind. Long weekends are ideal for road trips that take you far and wide to visit somewhere new. If you’re a creature of habit who doesn’t like to stray too far, a gentle meander down country paths or along canals is just as good. The sun on your face and the wind in your hair will make you feel glorious.
