Since 2012, we've been making affordable, minimalist jewellery using recycled precious metals, responsibly sourced gemstones and plastic-free packaging.
Based in Birmingham, we work with independent UK suppliers who share our approach.
That means choosing recycled metals, sourcing gemstones with care, working with independent UK suppliers, and producing in small batches. It also means keeping packaging simple and prices accessible.
We care about what goes into our jewellery, but we care about keeping it affordable, too.
Independently Run, Since 2012
Founded by Sophie Davies in 2012, Oh My Clumsy Heart is proudly women-owned and independently run from Birmingham.
Being a small, independent business means we can do things our way, from choosing our suppliers to deciding what we make and how much we charge.
Thoughtful design and responsible practices don't belong exclusively to big brands with big budgets. A small business can do things differently, too.
Mining for precious metals comes at an environmental cost. We'd rather make use of what's already here.
All our gold is 100% recycled, along with the vast majority of our silver. When recycled silver isn't available, we use responsibly sourced new silver instead.
We work with independent UK suppliers, including Fairtrade-licensed suppliers, Living Wage employers and members of the Responsible Jewellery Council (RJC). Written assurances confirm the origin of our metals, including that our gold is recycled and conflict-free.
Our jewellery also meets applicable EU REACH requirements, with batches tested by the Assay Office where required.
Recycled metals aren't a perfect solution, but they're a better place to start.
We source our gemstones through trusted UK partners who work with small-scale cutters and mines. Many of our stones are traceable from mine to market; others come through long-standing supplier relationships built on trust and transparency.
Gemstone supply chains can be complicated, and traceability varies from stone to stone. We work with suppliers who take responsible sourcing seriously and ask questions about where our materials come from.
It's another part of making jewellery that's as considered as it looks.
We work with independent UK suppliers and finish our jewellery in small batches, giving us greater control over quality and how much we produce.
Making smaller quantities helps us avoid overproduction and excess stock, while keeping the focus on designs we genuinely want to make.
No jewellery is impact-free, but producing in small batches helps us keep unnecessary waste to a minimum.
Our Birmingham studio is furnished with second-hand benches, storage and equipment, alongside thrifted props and preloved tools. Buying second-hand means we can make use of what's already here, rather than buying new.
We look for practical ways to reduce waste and make better use of the resources we have. It's part of running a small business with care, from the jewellery we produce to the space we work in.
Every order is packaged in plastic-free, recyclable materials sourced from small UK businesses. We keep things simple, protecting your jewellery without adding unnecessary packaging.
We also offset delivery emissions through our carbon-neutral shipping approach, helping to account for the impact of getting your order to you.
Packaging and delivery are only part of the picture, but they matter too. We want the care that goes into choosing your jewellery to extend to how it arrives.
Oh My Clumsy Heart is an online-only business. We sell directly to you, without wholesale, stockists or high-street shop costs.
When jewellery passes through retailers, each business needs to cover its costs and make a profit, adding to the final price you pay. By selling directly, we cut out those extra mark-ups and keep our prices lower.
Our prices reflect the materials, the work involved, and the costs of running a small independent business. That means well-made, responsibly sourced jewellery at prices that remain affordable.
There's no such thing as impact-free jewellery. Materials have to be sourced, pieces have to be made, and orders have to travel. We don't pretend otherwise.
What matters is making informed choices, being honest about what we know and recognising where there's still room to improve.
