Visit a Handmade Market

All throughout autumn you'll discover seasonal events taking place both indoors and outside. With the run up to Christmas, most weekends you'll be able to find a handmade market happening almost every weekend. These craft markets are the perfect place to shop for handmade gifts. It's an awesome way to enjoy the festive season, support local businesses, and buy unique holiday gifts for your loved ones.

We're back at the Paperdolls Market for their winter craft fair. We'll be bringing our sustainable jewellery range to sell alongside other local independent designer-makers. The market takes place in the Custard Factory, Birmingham, on November 12 and 13. There are over 50 stalls featuring everything from art, homewares, and clothing. We're shared our favourite makers to inspire your gift wish list.



Go On a Woodland Walk

Autumn is one of the most wonderful times of years to get outside and see nature at its finest. From mid-September to mid-October, the autumn colours and at bold and vibrant. It's the ideal opportunity to embrace the chance in season and witness is first hand outdoors. Now is the time to go on a woodland walk, wander through a forest, get lost in a maize maze, or have a go at pumpkin picking.

There are so many amazing seasonal foods and festive treats available around Autumn. This time of year has some of the best deserts to enjoy, including pumpkin pie and apple crumble. Even the savoury options are a delight, from toasted pumpkin seeds to pumpkin soup. It's also a great season to make a batch of fire cider.



Celebrate Halloween

It's what we've all been waiting for: Halloween! Embrace the spooky season with traditional Halloween activities. Whether you want a spooky day indoors or a fun activity outside, there are so many Halloween activities to choose from. Craft something creepy, carve a pumpkin or turnip, attend a Halloween parade, or make a costume.

Find a local event and book a place on a ghost tour to hear grisly stories from the past, including murder, grave robbing, and infamous hauntings.



Visit a Scarecrow Festival

One of the best things about Autumn are the traditional festivities. Scarecrow festivals are a UK tradition dating back to the 1990s. Town residents compete to make the best themed scarecrow using whatever materials they can find. Displayed outside homes, pubs, communal lawns, and public buildings; you can visit these humorous creations and vote on your favourite ones.
